MV OptiMar

(1997 – 1999)

Magne Berge Fraktebåtrederi AS (the first name of Berge Rederi AS) bought MV Nordvik in 1997 and renamed the vessel MV OptiMar. The name OptiMar AS was decided by the charterer BioMar AS, it refer to the fishfood type OptiMal. The vessel was 45 m long and loaded a maximum of 360 t fishfodder. OptiMar was hired in by “BioMar AS” and loaded two times per week at the factory on Karmøy. A weekly schedule was one voyage to the Austevoll/Bergen areas and one voyage to the Hitra/Frøya areas. This marked an important milestone as the start of Berge Rederi AS. OptiMar was in the end sold to “Geir Mørk Sjøtransport AS” in Tromsø, in 1999.
