MV JAGO
(1917 – 2020)
MV JAGO was built in 1917 by Sigurd Witzøe on the island Frøya and was then named Njål II. She was 62 feet long, 14.6 feet wide and 7.6 feet deep. GRT was 24 and the engine was a 25 HP Wickmann. The same owner was also listed in 1938, however in 1940 Kristian Gabrielsen became listed as owner (Anne Gunn's grandfather and Sigurd's half-brother). Afterwards, Anne Gunn's father took over the vessel. She was rebuilt in 1951 and renamed JAGO with the same registration number. The name JAGO originated from the forenames of Anne Gunn father and aunts. Jørgen, Anna, Gerda and Oddbjørg. The vessel was registered for sea and coastal fishing. After years of service she was sold south to Egersund in 1965. Anne Gunn brought home JAGO in 2016 to try to have her restored, however she unfortunately sank at the key during a severe storm and had to be sent for scrapping at just over 100 years old. JAGO was a historic vessel serving a long life with good maintenance and few owners.
