History

In March 2021 Berge Rederi AS signed up for another newbuilding with Dayang Shipyard in China (Shanghai). This vessel is MV Sletringen’s sister vessel and is named MV Selvaagsund. Selvaagsund (8500 Dwt) was delivered June 2023 and rebuilt to a self-discharger with excavator same year in Ijmuiden, NL.

She has identical dual power sources as Sletringen (diesel + electrical). The two sister vessels also have identical electrical excavators. However, unlike Sletringen, Selvaagsund’s propeller is slightly larger. This alteration contributes to a significantly improved fuel efficiency and top speed.

Like Sletringen, the emission of CO2 is very low, and the emission of NOX is close to zero. This vessel ultimately contributes to our net zero goal.

The vessel's main cargo were raw materials for the salmon and agriculture industry in Norway. Outbound cargoes are mainly dolomite, crumbles, timber and split.
